Global Sufi Organisation on Thursday made a four-point charter of demands including security for Sufi institutions and a judicial investigation into recent attacks on shrines.

Hasan Shah Sureshwari Dipu Noori, an organiser of the platform, placed their demands at a press conference at the National Press Club in the city.

The other demands are prohibition of anti-Sufi statements and providing compensation for damaged shrines and families of injured and killed devotees.

He also said that from now on they would resist the attackers if the law enforcers failed to ensure security of the shrines and devotees any further.

The Global Sufi Organisation, a platform of more than 5,000 member representatives of Sufi institutions across the country, said that at least 80 shrines had been attacked since August 5, 2024.

‘Some miscreants vandalised age-old shrines, looted shrine properties and set fire to the shrines to provoke disputes,’ said Dipu Noori.

Shah Md Alauddin said that if the attackers claimed responsibility for an attack then they could open a debate on religious or any social issues.

Earlier, the Chief Adviser’s Office press wing on January 18 shared a police report, saying that they received reports on 44 incidents of vandalism perpetrated on 40 shrines, including mazar and sufi graveyards, in some areas of the country since August 4, 2024.
