The police on Thursday found the hanging body of the officer-in-charge of Janjira police station in Shariatpur inside the police station compound.
The deceased is Al Amin, a resident of Muladi upazila in Barishal.
Superintendent of Shariatpur police Nazrul Islam said that the colleagues of Al Amin saw him hanging from the ceiling through a window in his room in the afternoon and informed others.
The SP said that the body was hanging from the ceiling with a scarf in his room on the second floor at the police station.
鈥業nitially, police suspect that it is a case of suicide. The exact cause of his death will be confirmed after the post-mortem,鈥� he said.
Police were investigating the incident, added the police official.
Additional SP Sheikh Sharif- uz Zaman said that a forensic team was informed and the body was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Al Amin鈥檚 brother Abdur Rob Babul said that Al Amin鈥檚 wife and daughter came to visit his workplace in Shariatpur a few days ago.
He had a good relationship with his wife and daughter, Babul said, adding that he might have killed himself due to depression.
