The government has decided to disburse the monthly salary for March and the festival bonus by March 23 for the celebration of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr.
The Finance Division gave a directive in this regard on Sunday, said the division officials, referring to the directive issued by the treasury and debt management wing.
All gazetted and non-gazetted officials and employees of the government, semi-government and autonomous bodies will come under the purview of the directive.
The directive will also be applicable to both commissioned and non-commissioned officers of the military forces, the officials said.
The pensioners will also be given post-service allowance by the same date, the officials added.
The officials attributed the advancement of the payment of salary and post-service benefits by almost one week for the upcoming Eid festival.
Eid-ul-Fitr, one of the biggest religious festivals of the Muslim-majority country, is likely to be celebrated on March 31, depending on sighting the moon.
Under the same directive given to the comptroller and auditor general, the treasury and debt management wing said that other allowances including the festival bonus would be made available with the disbursement of salary for March.
According to the budget document, the government has set aside Tk 80,463 crore to clear the salary and allowances of its employees in the current financial year, compared to Tk 73,173 crore required in the past FY24.
It has been estimated that on average Tk 6,705 crore is needed to clear the parks and packages in the current FY25.
