
At least five people were killed in road accidents in Dhaka, Bogura and Satkhira districts between Sunday night and Monday.
Three people were killed in two separate road accidents in Savar, on the outskirts of Dhaka, Bangladesh Sangbad Sanstha reported.
The deceased are Anwarul Islam, 36; Hridoy Chandra Das, 20, and Archana Rani, 30, both residents of Netrakona district.
Officer-in-charge of Savar highway police station, Saugatul Alam, said that a passenger bus of Nabil Paribahan lost control of its steering and crashed into a road divider in the Genda bus stand area along the Dhaka-Aricha Highway Monday morning, leaving its helper Anwarul dead on the spot.
In another accident, Hridoy and Archana were killed as a speeding private car hit them while they were crossing the road in the Bank Town area of along the same highway Sunday night.
BSS also reported that a woman was killed after an unidentified vehicle hit her on the Dhaka-Bogura highway in Aria Bazar area under Shajahan police station in Bogura in the morning.
The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately, said officer-in-charge of Sherpur Highway police station Md Azizul Islam.
Police recovered the body and sent it to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy, he said, adding that police were trying to find out her identity.
A student was killed in a road accident in Satkhira Sadar upazila on Monday when a goods-laden truck hit his motorbike in Agardari area of Sadar upazila in the morning, BSS reported.
The deceased is Naeem Hasan, 18, a second-year honours student of Satkhira Government College, said Md Shaminul Haque, OC of Satkhira Sadar police station.
