
A Secondary School Certificate examinee was killed after a truck hit him in the Uttara area in the capital Dhaka on Sunday afternoon.
The victim was crossing a road after participating in an exam that day.
The deceased is Nayeem, 17, son of Mohammad Nazrul Islam, a resident of Haluaghat area in Mymensingh, said Dhaka Medical College Hospital police outpost in-charge inspector Mohammad Faruque.
Nayeem was his parents’ only child and lived in the sector 5 area of Uttara, the inspector added.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police Uttara (East) officer-in-charge Shamim Ahmed said that Nayeem was crossing the road in front of the Azampur BNS Centre at around 1:15pm.
At that time the truck hit him.
He was first taken to a nearby branch of the Popular Hospital and from there he was taken to the DMCH.
The police officer said that Nayeem died there at around 3:20pm.
‘We have heard that on the day Nayeem’s SSC exam centre was Rajuk Uttara Model College,’ Shamim said.
He also said that they had seized the truck but the driver managed to flee after the accident.
No case was filed yet in this regard, he added.
