Mohammedan Sporting Club’s veteran all-rounder Mahmudullah lost his temper after his team’s defeat to Abahani Limited in the title decider match of the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Tuesday.

Mahmudullah, who had scored 50 runs earlier, was on his way back to the dressing room after the players shook hands at the end of the match when someone in the grandstand above the Mohammedan dressing room said something to him.

That triggered the player, who announced his international retirement, to the extent that he climbed up to the stand.

Mahmudullah had to be dragged back by the Mohammedan officials, including the manager, Sajjad Ahmed.

Match referee Selim Shahed said that it’s up to the disciplinary committee to foresee the matter.

He said, ‘I haven’t received any official complaint yet. Moreover, the incident happened after the match. So it will be a matter of the disciplinary committee.’

However, the particular fan claimed that his comment was not toward Mahmudullah but rather the Mohammedan manager Sajjad.

It was not the first controversy around Mohammedan in the season, who eventually finished second.

Towhid Hridoy, their stand-in captain, was banned for four matches and missed the most important fixture of the calendar.
